As a homeowner, you should monitor your solar production to be sure it’s being accurately reported.
Please note that failure to report the production within the state’s deadlines can jeopardize and sometimes forfeit your REC / SREC incentive payouts. It is the homeowners responsibility to assure that does not happen. SunDial cannot make incentive payouts for energy that was not properly reported.
Manual Reporting Your Production
Some homeowners have opted to manually report their production. SunDial can assist in switching you to manually reporting should you decide to, just email us at dialthesunllc@gmail.com. Please be sure to include that you give us permission to submit the change request on your behalf and the reasoning for the switch.
When you opt to manually report, please note that your system’s energy production must be submitted every month within the required 10-day reporting time frame window. Any specific questions regarding reporting should be emailed directly to PTS at pts@masscec.com. Here is a link to their website with more information: How do I manually report production?
The MA RPS Class 1 Program does not allow manual reporting. However, clients who were already manually reporting in PTS under the prior SREC program and then transitioned to the MA RPS Class 1 Program can continue to manually report their production in PTS.
Production Monitoring Meters
Most systems have a production monitoring meter that automatically collects and reports the amount of electricity generated by a solar PV system. If you suspect an issue with the production being reported, you should contact your installer as soon as possible. They can assist in troubleshooting to identify the problem.
Production Monitoring - Meter Replacement
For systems under the SREC Program, the homeowner or installer should notify PTS if they replace a faulty production monitoring meter. They require an email be sent pts@masscec.com including the following information:
If the meter swap resulted in a change of automatic reporter, that company must also be notified so they can record the swap on their end. They will then need to confirm the new meter's initial reading and subsequent end of month reading to ensure the swap is recorded correctly and production reporting is not further interrupted. SunDial is responsible to submit any reporter change to PTS, so please include us in your emails if that is the case, dialthesunllc@gmail.com.
For systems under the Class 1 Program, please notify SunDial directly with all of the items listed above. We will notify Nepool/GIS of the production meter swap and also submit any automatic reporter change to them.
True-Ups
If there was a loss of production reporting (i.e. prior to a meter swap), please refer to the guidelines provided by the MassCEC on the link below. There are very specific reasons why they would grant a reconciliation for the missed reporting, (i.e. equipment hardware malfunction or lighting strike). They also have strict submission timelines to comply with.
“SREC Reconciliation and True-up Guidelines – MassCEC”
If your loss circumstances meet their criteria for possible reconciliation, the homeowner and/or installer must provide Sundial with all of the required information listed in the MassCEC guidelines. SunDial will submit the request to PTS or Nepool/GIS for consideration.
